Viewing M2M Song from Another Viewpoint

Just heard a song played in a public transportation when I got back from a place. The title is “Don’t Say You Love Me”, sang by M2M. Actually, I just heard the chorus part of this song which sounded like this, “Don’t say you love me, you don’t even know me. If you really want me, then give me some time”. It was kinda slapping me. Lol. I don’t wanna talk about this, so let’s just move on to the points I want to share to you all.

This song originally talks about someone who is annoyed by the move another person made. She thinks that it’s just too fast to be true, for him to say that he loves her. Why? Because ‘he doesn’t even know her’. It’s kind of funny, at first, because I reflected it to myself. But then, I realized something. Why doesn’t she like being told that she is loved just because he doesn’t even know her?

I think.. it’s true. How can you say you love someone you just met? What is your basic thinking? Love is not just a word. Like John Mayer said, love is a verb. Love requires us to do something out of our comfort zone. Love means being self-less.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

For example, how can you be patient to someone whom you just got introduced by a friend? Have you really known whether you’re ready or not to be in patience with him/her all day long? It is a long journey, dear. Don’t say you love her when you’re just able to wait for her doing some make-up before you both are about to date. You don’t even know her.

I’d like to put my analyzing result about all of those love-verbs, but I have to do some kind of preparation before, so I will post it another day. I just want to say that… yes, love shouldn’t be said without understanding. Saying it means you’re ready to do those verbs. That’s why, let’s give it some time, to know each other. To know what kind of person you’re going to love. To ask yourself, ‘Am I ready to love her/him?’

Don’t sale the word ‘love’. It is not merely a word. It’s true that only God who truly loves us. Because He knows us so well. He knows our thoughts, our desires, our hearts. He deeply knows our strengths and weaknesses. He even knows our every single hair. He is ready to love us for He Himself, is love.

So, that’s how we being reminded to ask Him first about anyone we’re going to love. To ask Him, “Father, open my eyes wider to know him/her.”, “Father, I pray to hear her/his heart.”, “Father, am I ready to love this kind of person?” Or even… “Father, let me feel Your love more of each day so I can love this person the way You love me.”

I know, we’re loved to love too, so why thinking too much about this love word? But… have you ever experienced that loving people is not as easy as it sounds? Like… what if you have to face the ones that hurt you the most, then you remember that you have to love them? It’s hard, isn’t it? That’s why… do love with understanding. Love, and don’t bother, even if they don’t ‘love’ you back.

At the end, it’s all because love never fails.

The Christian’s Three-Fold Enemy – Constable Note

The Christian's Three Fold Enemy

(Kita buka Alkitab kita masing-masing yuk! Baca, tandai, pahami, dan mari berjuang melakukannya!) 🙂

P.S.:

Bangkit, s’rukan nama Yesus! Maju, nyatakan kuasa-Nya! Kita buat iblis gemetar. Kalahkan tipu dayanya dengan kuasa nama-Nya. Nama Yesus, menara yang kuat. Nama Yesus, kota benteng yang teguh. Nama Yesus, kalahkan semua musuh.

Descendants: Where All Your Childhood Memories Back On The Scene

Disneys-Descendants-LOGO

Just like another Disney movie, this movie is a very thoughtful movie on how they show us that we don’t have to be what our parents told us to be, if it’s not for good reasons. Mr. Kenny Ortega, High School Musical director, covers the messages with songs and dance, and to be honest, it sounds like Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron and all the East High members doing that. That’s okay, that’s why I said that this movie brings back my childhood memories on the scene. This movie is simple, but when it’s about love, simple is enough.

If you’re a Disney freak–specifically, a Disney princesses freak–do watch this, for your refreshing time.

“Aku tahu kekuatanmu tidak seberapa…”

Wahyu 3:7-13

Turning Aside to Myths

2 Timothy 4:1-8 I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom. Preach the message,  be ready whether it is convenient or not, reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and instruction. For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things. And they will turn away from hearing the truth, but on the other hand they will turn aside to myths. You, however, be self-controlled in all things, endure hardship, do an evangelist’s work, fulfill your ministry. For I am already being poured out as an offering, and the time for me to depart  is at hand. I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith! Finally the crown of righteousness is reserved for me. The Lord, the righteous Judge, will award it to me in that day – and not to me only, but also to all who have set their affection on his appearing.

This passage slaps me on my face when I read the “they will turn away from hearing the truth… turn aside to myths” part. I should admit that this is happening now on how people seek not the righteousness but their own justification. Me too, sometimes doing this. It is easier to seek what pleases our ears than to seek what pleases God’s heart. And what surprises me is, why Paul said that people will turn aside to myths.

What is myth? An on-line dictionary gives me this definition: a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, especially one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon of nature. Myths were used to teach humans behavior that helped people live in concert with one another. Mythical gods certainly had some strange and not acceptable behavior yet stories often demonstrated such topics as the need for hospitality (tale of Philemon and Baucis) or the need to keep pride in check (Narcissus). In the eyes of the gods, excessive pride, or hubris, was the worst offense and deserved the worst punishment. (Niobe story).

To me, myth is as simple as other stories, other words, other beliefs that are not Christ-centered, that are not in-line with the Gospel, that are not in-line with the Bible. I must say, our scientific knowledges may also include in my so-called definition, if it’s the opposite to God’s words.

Seems so lame to me. Even with my logical thinking I can’t accept that people prefer turning aside to myth to turning back to the truth. Is such story that doesn’t have a certain determinable basis of fact more acceptable than the truth of God? Hm, I know this is a faith kind of question, too. Just… really?

But that is happening. What kind of myth you hear today? You hear about your zodiac compatibility? Or your Myers-Briggs 16 personalities? Or about your sanguine-melancholic-phlegmatic-choleric? Or about eating in front of your door will move away your true love? (Lol that’s what I heard in Bataknese myth).

Our psychological human being prefer hearing what pleases us to seeking what pleases others, what pleases God. But friends, no such thing is greater and more powerful and more truthful than God’s words. Don’t spend your life reading more of earthy words than God’s words. Spend more time to seek the truth of God’s kingdom (Mat 6:33), and all will be given to you: the wisdom to distinguish the right from the wrong, the strength to do the right one, the healing when you’re broken doing what is right, also, the ability to be self-controlled in all things, endure hardship, do an evangelist’s work, and fulfill your ministry.

Don’t forget to preach what you’ve been seeking in the Bible to other people. Don’t forget to reprove, rebuke, and exhort with complete patience and instruction. Let us not giving our ears to myth. Let us open our ears wider for the truth so that we can follow Paul’s model and say that we also have competed well, have finished the race, and have kept the faith.

P.S.: Ask God’s help to do so, of course.

May God bless us.

And I think the core of that message — you’re not alone, we love you — has to be at every level of how we respond to addicts, socially, politically and individually. For 100 years now, we’ve been singing war songs about addicts. I think all along we should have been singing love songs to them, because the opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection.

Johann Hari on TEDTalks: Everything you think you know about addiction is wrong 🙂

That’s how I was reminded again that all we need is love. God’s love, for sure, which is shown concretely by us, His children. Thank God for enabling me see this thing and please help me show Your love to anyone You give around me. Amen.
